Just Human Nature

Although I tend to avoid organized religion as much as possible, I have always had a strange fascination with Judaism. The history and community around the faith had, in the past, struck a chord within me. It was not until recently that I recognized the massive difference between Conservative Judaism and those who are part of the reform movement.

Given this new found awareness, I have altered my statements to say that those who are part of the reform movement are extremely loving and accepting people. I have found that my Jewish friends tend to be some of the most open, kind and generous people that I know.  They are focused on social issues and donate a significant amount of their time and energy in trying to advance those causes. I always said, if I were to ever choose a religion to follow, it would be Judaism.

This story is a shining example of how people can get past gender and sexuality to see a person for who they really are. Props to the members of my local community who welcomed this woman with open arms and an open heart. And welcome to Concord, Rabbi Nafshi.
